WELCOME TO PURPLE REIGN!
A WELCOME FROM OUR CO-LEADERS
Thank you for celebrating the artists, supporters, and neighbors who make Collaboraction a place where people belong. Together, we honor extraordinary partners and support our mainstage theatre, youth employment, and community initiatives that impact social change.
Tonight we reign in purple, the color made when red and blue combine. In this room, there is no divide, only shared purpose. Everyone here is royal. Thank you for reigning with us.

Classically trained dancer, vocalist, actor, and filmmaker NK Gutiérrez has excelled in nearly every facet of entertainment. She is well known for recurring roles in Showtime's The Chi and NBC's Chicago Fire, and for her show-stopping portrayal of Mamie Till in Collaboraction's 2026 run of Trial in the Delta at the House of Belonging, the Chicago History Museum, and most recently at Emmett Till: The Pursuit of Happiness, an 85th birthday commemoration dinner at the Obama Presidential Center. She reprises the role for Collaboraction in February 2027.
Through All Things NK Productions, she wrote, produced and starred in the short film The Last New Year. As Executive Director of the Midwest Film Festival, she led its 2026 expansion into Midwest Royale, five days of screenings dedicated to Midwestern storytellers. She also works as an intimacy coordinator on film and television sets. Born in Topeka, Kansas, she trained at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama before making Chicago home.
