House of Belonging Capital Campaign
Collaboraction Theatre Company is thrilled to announce it will build and open a new home in fall 2024 inside the Kimball Arts Center, 1757 N. Kimball Avenue in Chicago’s Humboldt Park community, right off the 606, where Chicagoans from across the city can come together to grow together.
Collaboraction’s new “House of Belonging” will feature a newly-constructed, 99-seat flexible studio theater and a 50-seat cabaret with a cafe/bar. The 4,000-square foot space will be a community hub presenting live theater, spoken word, music, dance, films, community workshops and special events, produced by Collaboraction and in collaboration with guests artists and visiting companies. The space will be home to The Light, Collaboraction’s innovative youth artist-activist program, and a destination for youth events, open mics and workshops. Both spaces will be equipped with HD multicam systems to stream live and recorded content around the world.
We need your support to raise $1.5 million to create, staff and fully manifest a new House of Belonging, where everyone is included.
The campaign was kicked off with a $200,000 grant from the City of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events CARP grant and we have raised an additional $101,450! Please consider a donation of any amount to support the construction and opening costs of our new space!
“I am proud to welcome Collabraction Theatre Company to the 26th Ward. Arts and culture are critical to youth development, and uplifting our community stories will further maintain our neighborhood’s legacy, I am particularly excited for the economic impact live theater will bring to Kimball Avenue.”
-Jessie Fuentes Alderperson of Chicago's 26th Ward in Humboldt Park.
