ABOUT: Ramiro Ramírez Duarte
Ramiro Ramírez Duarte was born in Rancho de Juanica, Tierra Blanca, Guanajuato, Mexico. His passion for modern music, traditional music, and pre-Hispanic Mexican instruments developed through his close relationship with the musical group TRIBU, which he officially joined in the late 1980s.
During his 25-year career with TRIBU, Ramiro performed internationally and contributed to 12 musical productions, sharing credits with artists including Jean-Michel Jarre, Toshi Tsuchitori, Olivia Gorra, Alex Lora, and Alfonso Arau. He also contributed to the film Zapata alongside Federico Álvarez del Toro. In 2015, Ramiro launched his solo career, blending pre-Hispanic instruments with modern electronic sounds.
He has performed throughout the United States, Italy, Vatican City, and Canada, releasing five independent albums: Otontecuhtli (The Lord of the Otomíes), The House of Souls, Azteca, Balancing Elements, and Deep Mexico. In 2022, he participated in the soundtrack of Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as the only Hñähñu (Otomí) musician involved in the project.
