INTERNSHIP APPLICATION INFORMATION

Collaboraction is a theatre company focused on inciting social change. Preference will be placed to applicants that are in line with our mission and interested in creating change through devised theatre.


Hours: Internships are available to be part time (10-15 hours) or full time (30-40 hours). Hours are usually completed during the day, but may vary depending on production schedule.


Compensation: Internship positions are unpaid, but may be completed for college credit if applicable.

Perks: Professional development opportunities, such as a resume/portfolio review at the end of internship, networking opportunities, and complementary tickets to Collaboraction productions.

ARTISTIC INTERN

Required skills:

* Working with writers, directors, actors, and designers

Who should apply for this position:
Interns who have a strong desire to learn about day-to-day artistic programming should apply. This position largely works in an administrative capacity, with occasional nighttime and weekend hours. The artistic internship is the best fit for directors, dramaturgs, and playwrights who wish to gain experience working in an artistic department.
 
Position is supervised by:
Associate Producer
 
Internship Responsibilities:
The intern will work directly with Collaboraction’s artistic staff to produce mainstage and supplemental programming. This includes gaining experience in curating festival programming, casting, observation of and minute taking for both production meetings and meetings of the Artistic Office, providing dramaturgical support on current productions, and other day-to-day office support as needed. Working hands-on with writers, directors, actors, and designers on an administrative level.

 

EDUCATION INTERN

Who should apply for this position:

Applicants should have a desire to support and develop our next generation of theatre artists. This position is a great opportunity for aspiring teaching artists and education program director.

Position is supervised by:

Director of Youth Programming

Internship Responsibilities:

The two major areas of work include assisting in the classroom of our After School Matters program and producing support with The Light, our annual youth festival. Other responsibilities include developing educational materials and providing educational research for our development department.

DEVELOPMENT INTERN

Who should apply for this position:

Applicants who wish to gain hands-on experience in the development department of a non-profit theatre company should apply. The position is best suited for those who aspire to be a Director of Development or Executive Director.

 

Position is supervised by:

Director of Development

 

Internship Responsibilities:

Interns will assist in a variety of areas; including strategic planning, partnerships, fundraising, researching foundations, writing grant proposals, working with donors, cultivating corporate sponsorship, planning and attending special events, and assisting where needed. 

MARKETING INTERN

Who should apply for this position:

Applicants who wish to gain hands-on experience in the marketing of a non-profit theatre company should apply. The position is best suited for those who aspire to be a Marketing Director.

 

Position is supervised by:

Marketing Manager & Director of Development

 

Internship Responsibilities:

Interns will assist in a variety of areas; including strategic planning, partnerships, social media marketing, email marketing, community outreach, PR, planning and attending special events, and assisting where needed. 

PRODUCTION INTERN

Who should apply for this position:

Applicants who apply should have an interest in providing boots-on-the-ground support in all areas of production in our season. This intersectional internship is great for those who aspire to be a Production Manager or Technical Director.

 

Position is supervised by:

Associate Producer and Facilities & Rentals Manager


Internship Responsibilities:

Interns will assist in all aspects of production, including but not limited to build, hang, and programming support. Other responsibilities include helping to coordinate events, working backstage on shows, assisting with rentals, and general facilities upkeep & management.

Who should apply for this position:

This internship will gain hands on experience within the day-to-day administration and operations of a theatre company. Interns who aspire to be a Managing Director should apply.

 

Position is supervised by:

General Manager

 

Internship Responsibilities:

This internship works closely in all aspects in the field of management, including finance and budgeting, human resources, office management, and facilities. Responsibilities include artistic contracting, rental contracting, project management, accounting and financial reporting, budgeting, and other office management tasks.
