After 15 years, 240 world premiere theater pieces, and being hailed “the premiere short play festival in the Midwest” by the Chicago Reader, Collaboraction's Annual SKETCHBOOK Festival took it's final bow at the place where it all started; the Chopin Theatre, January 14-24, 2016.
The 15th and FINAL SKETCHBOOK showcased 16 world premiere theater pieces of seven minutes or less (created by an eclectic line-up of Chicago veterans and emerging artists) split into two programs, each packed with creativity, experimentation, & celebration: LIFE and DEATH.
Every night of the festival also featured a live musical guest and there were be numerous SKETCHBOOK–related after parties and special events throughout the festival including pre-show panels featuring particpating artists and industry professionals.
The Festival may be finished, but that doesn't mean you still can't relive the magic over and over. Peruse photos, watch videos, and get inspired all over again.
Additionally, for SKETCHBOOK’S grand finale, Collaboraction is reuniting with Wesley Kimler, the accomplished painter and original SKETCHBOOK collaborator! In addition to creating a cross-genre festival, we created three months of creative gestation at Kimler’s 6,000-square-foot studio at 2046 W. Carroll Ave. The events featured Live Music, exclusive performances, art, and an inside look at all 16 pieces at Kimler’s studio on three Saturdays from October to December.
