Thank you for your interest in Collaboraction's 2016 Annual Appeal: We Need Each Other.

There are many ways to give and many benefits of giving. Donate Now or join The 21 Club, a monthly commitment of $21 in support of our mission that gives you free tickets and access to exclusive events throughout the season. Also, all donations made between now through the end of the year will be MATCHED by our board and a generous, anonymous donor.

We hope you will give to Collaboraction this holiday season to support our ongoing commitment to socially relevant theater.

Yours,

The Collaboraction Board, Company and Staff

Since the beginning of mankind, theater has been used to mirror, change and shape society.  Today’s social climate has created a real need for great humanist theater as a tool for dialogue and innovation to help us build a better tomorrow. “Theatre can help us build our future, rather than just waiting for it.” - Augusto Boal

Collaboraction creates original theatrical experiences addressing today’s most critical social issues, with and for our audience.  For 21 years, we have evolved, we continue to take real artistic risks, and we are committed to bringing these important issues to light for inspired audiences in the city of Chicago.

In 2016:

  • - The 15th and Final SKETCHBOOK Festival came to a roaring finale at the Chopin Theatre with over 200 participating artists for an audience of over 2000.

  • - The 1st Annual PEACEBOOK Festival brought 255 artists together in Englewood, Austin and Uptown to create 21 new pieces of theatre about Peace in Chicago.  We fed over 1700 audience members, and educated patrons with peace fairs and panels.  Audiences were 50% more interested in joining the peace movement after coming to PEACEBOOK

  • - Collaboraction’s 20-year anniversary production of CONNECTED explored the expansion of technology and our connection to one another.

  • - Inspired by personal interviews, THE MARS ASSIGNMENT, a delicate and potent study of people living with mental illness, dismantled stigmas and cultivated dialogue about this often-ignored topic.  Each performance ended with engaging post-show discussions.

  • - Our teen program continues to flourish with two After School Matters programs and the Collaboraction Peacemakers Ensemble.  In 2016, we worked with over 200 Chicago teens throughout the city of Chicago.

It was a successful year, but there is more work to do.  In 2017, we will continue to push how a theatre company serves its community with social, contemporary theatre.

  • - In February, Collaboraction opens GENDER BREAKDOWN, devised in response to the lack of gender equality in the theater.  An all female artist team of 25 will create and lead this world premiere exploring the issues of misogyny, gender phobia, and racism in the theater and beyond.

  • - PEACEBOOK 2017 will greatly expand on our work in the Chicago Peace Movement in partnership with the Chicago Park District, Goodman Theatre and NEA.

  • - Our next season will use theatre to deconstruct and explore epic inequality and disconnection within our city and country.

Our work needs the support of individuals that believe in the power of art to create thought, dialogue and change.  If you have experienced the power of Collaboraction firsthand, then you know we are a critical part of our cultural landscape and understand our importance. In honor of our 21st season, we have also created The 21 Club, a monthly commitment of $21 in support of our mission that gives you free tickets and access to exclusive events throughout the season.

We hope you will consider a tax-deductible donation to Collaboraction’s 2016 Annual Appeal: We Need Each Other this Giving Season.  And all donations given between now and Giving Tuesday will be MATCHED (up to $5000) due to the generosity of an anonymous donor. Your continued support is valued now more than ever.  You can donate now online or send your donation to us in the enclosed envelope by December 30, 2016 to help build a better tomorrow.  Thank you for being an important part of the Collaboraction community.
